Backgrounds are hard! But they give a good context to the character, i feel, and make a picture feel more complete. When it comes to hard and unpleasant things to draw I always try to find a "fun shape" to draw within the unpleasant thing. I hate buildings, but I always go "okay, what fun shape can i reduce the building to? What kind of detail would it make it cute and interesting?". I always love watching anime and animesque cartoons on a cheaper side because the animators while drawing sloppily make some cool and interesting decisions sometimes. Hell, I've got cropped screencaps from a particularly vile hentai because i thought the bamboo, or a chair, or a pool was drawn really fun in it. And its like, they didnt do a super good job on it, but it still works and its just a good place to look into.
Plus, its always good to remember that making lots of clay pots is better than to just attempt making one perfect clay pot. Don't feel bad if 10th clay pot still has cracks in it, you're learning and improving. If you thought your clay pot was perfect but then after a while you notice cracks and other imperfections you didn't before, dont feel discouraged - feel HAPPY about learning SO MUCH about clay pots you can notice these mistakes now.
